IVEX trapper certainly didn't have any Blood Magic. Not sure what is up with that.
Here's a better example though:
Distortion Trapper
Wilderness Survival: 15 (12+2+1)
Expertise: 14 (12+2)
Illusion: 3
- Spike Trap [Elite] (Wilderness Survival)
- Dust Trap (Wilderness Survival)
- Barbed Trap (Wilderness Survival)
- Flame Trap/Snare (Wilderness Survival)
- Distortion (Illusion Magic)
- Dodge (Expertise)
- Troll Ungent (Wilderness Survival)
- Ressurection Signet ()
This is the current GvG trapper build I am using, also an option to sub out Dodge for Apply Poison, but it can be quite usefull when you need to be somewhere fast to stack traps or run a flag.
The weaponsets I personally use are a +5e Sword with a Fortitude mod, and a Shield with +45/-2 stance. This means you can hit distortion when you are being spiked and get the evade and the shield buffs, as well as the +8AL you get from a 16AL gold shield without the req.
Second set is the same, but with a -5e Sword. I find being a pain in the ass for Warriors tends to get me Surged a lot when teams have a Mesmer of that variety, and with an already fairly fragile energy pool it really does help.
Third set is a +5e/+30hp staff for when I really need the larger energy pool.
Fourth set is a Poisoners Short Bow of Fortitude, if I am running Apply Poison instead of Dodge.

I'm a big fan of getting distracting shot if you can fit it on a trapper bar. You have to bring a bow, but you can keep your sword/focus or staff as a weapon swap if you have to have it.

i'm a big fun of fitting in blackout myself... especially since you really don't need all that wilderness

It really depends, if you actually want to use traps for pressure and not just condition spreading then they hurt a lot more at 15 wilderness. Blackout is a decent option though, fitting well into the way a trapper plays; no spammable skills that the use of Blackout would disrupt.

We run a trapper with blackout in our pressure and I find it works beautifully. Like you say, there is a down time when trapping and having blackout on hand can really aid your soft targets by keep a warrior's adren shut down or even blacking out a monk during a called spike.
